Cybersecurity

Why is Cybersecurity Important; We are witnessing an era in which information, technology and software concepts are intertwined with our daily lives. Cyber security, also known as information technology security, protects against malicious attacks using network, computer, server, mobile and all electronic information systems.

Why is Cybersecurity important?  In order to answer that question, it’s important to first understand what cyber security is and which areas it is applied.

What is Cyber Security?

Cyber security is a technology designed to protect information and communication systems, networks, programs, devices and data against attacks that seek to steal information. These technologies consist of various processes and controls. Cyber security, designed with all the vulnerabilities in mind, reduces the risk of cyber attacks and prevents unauthorized use of systems, networks and technologies.

Cyber security is divided into 5 global categories:

  1. • Network Security
  2. • Program Security
  3. • Information Security
  4. • Operational Safety
  5. • Data Recovery and Business Continuity

In order to avoid problems in these categories, end-user training can also prevent human-induced security vulnerabilities. Network security is applied to prevent unauthorized control or monitoring of a computer network. Program security aims to close the gaps in the applications used in all types of devices, the software that provides the workflow and to be cautious against the attacks.

The protection of data storage centers or devices, the most valuable concept of information security in our age; prevents unauthorized export of data. Operational security, on the other hand, decides what processes users should go through when accessing a network or device. Thus, the risk of vulnerability can be minimized.

Our last item, data recovery and business continuity is the management of the system, making it possible to restore data and return to working capacity after any extraordinary situation. This way, the probability of damage, as a result of the attack, is minimized and the workflow is not interrupted.

Why is Cybersecurity Important

The damage caused by the lack of cyber security always leads to either very costly or very troublesome processes. For this reason, taking all the precautions from the very beginning and working with cyber security professionals enables the workflow to function with minimal loss. The measures taken ensure that users or businesses are not harmed. Considering that  knowledge is a valuable concept in our age, the fact that data belonging to people, institutions and commercial enterprises are not protected against cyber attacks allows pirates to see you as an open target. Therefore, cyber security should not be neglected.

Through cyber security:

  • • Protect against privacy violations, and avoid paying unneccessary fines
  • • Avoid the increasing amount of damage from bad-matched software
  • • Prevent attackers from gaining unfair profits
  • • Prevent your organization or organization’s reputation from being compromised

What are Cyber Attack Types?

Cyber attacks are increasingly complex. Common types of attacks today:

  • • DDOS Attack
  • • Virus
  • • Credential Hunting
  • • Deceptive Links and Addresses
  • • Worm, Malware and Trojan horse
  • • Ransomware
  • • Spyware
  • • SQL Penetration
  • • Man in the Middle Attack (MITM)
  • • Patch and Update Attacks
